Welcome
A brief introduction and what you can expect here
Dear Friend,
I’m glad you’re here! Thank you for joining me on this journey! The genesis of this project was that I woke one morning and had a million (okay, probably 50) ideas for short essays I wanted to write: things I have observed, things that have happened, things I would like to have happen (spoiler alert: I really need to see a bear). I started writing about these and they came out as letters to a friend. I read some of them to my dear husband and he encouraged me to find a way to publish them. So here we are.
If you don’t know me, yet, you’re about to learn a lot of very personal things about me, so I guess that’s pretty awkward. By way of introduction, I am a 37-year-old woman. I have been married to my high-school sweetheart, Clay, for 16+ years and I am the mother of two amazing daughters (and one cantankerous chihuahua named Stink). I worked in engineering and then finance for a long time and I am currently traveling North America with my family in an Airstream. Well, we travel in the truck and the truck pulls the Airstream and though I’m constantly worried we’ve left Stink in the trailer on a drive day, no one actually rides back there.
I plan to start with sending letters twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. They will be short and not too sweet. There will be “adult” language because that is how I talk - this is your warning. The letters aren’t usually littered with f-bombs, but there may be a few.
In addition to receiving or reading letters here, you can soon find Clay and me via podcast where we’ll read and discuss a letter and have a little laugh. We hope the casts will be fun and uplifting. We can’t wait to share them with you.
I am so excited to send these letters to you and hear what you have to say about them. I want to hear what observations you have made and lessons you have learned from your road. You can always write to me at lettersfromtheroadpod@gmail.com. May we share some laughs, perhaps some tears, and a lot of fun in the days and years to come.
See you down the road,
Jamie
